Playing the Guitar Title

Brendan with his GuitarI remember visiting Dicksons Music in July 2004 and looking at the Fender 50th Anniversary Stratocaster.  I made a decision that once the 2004 election was over, win or lose, I would go and buy that guitar and remedy one of my two life long regrets. (The other regret I have is not taking up rowing when I was a younBrendan Playing the Guitarg man).

Whilst my wife thinks I own two guitars, I actually own five! I have three Fender Stratocasters, Fender 60th Anniversary Stratocaster and a sixties facsimile Stratocaster. I also have a Yamaha XGV1212 with a sliding bridge and a Tanada acoustic I bought in 1981.

I’m not sure how or when I began to want to play the guitar however, I’ve always enjoyed the sense of reflection in the inner soul that comes to you when playing a musical instrument.

Brendan with his GuitarI own a Fender 50 watt and a couple of 25 watts amplifiers which all provide very reasonable sounds.

Like most musical fans, I’ve attended quite a few rock concerts over the years. I saw, my ‘Guitar Idol’, the late Roy Buchanan play in Adelaide in the 1980’s.  On that note I highly recommend the 1974 album ‘Life Stock’ for the Brendan Playing a Drumkituninitiated or Roy’s ‘Life in Japan’.

My favourite all time musicians have got to be Roy Buchanan, Santana and George Harrison.

Without even thinking, my favourite rock group is, and always has been AC/DC!
