Home and Community Care Program (HACC)

Home and Community Care Program (HACC) is a central element of the Australian Government’s aged care policy, providing community care services to aged people and young people with disabilities to remain in their homes, with the support of their families.

The aim of the HACC is to support these people to be more independent at home and in the community in order to enhance their quality of life and prevent their inappropriate admission to long term residential care.
HACC is a joint Australian Government and state and territory government program with the Australian Government contributing 60 per cent of the funding across Australia.

In 2006, Dr. Brendan Nelson helped secure $62,250 in additional funding to the Home and Community Care Program (HACC) Program in the Hornsby / Ku-ring-gai area. Four existing HACC providers in Bradfield, the Ku-ring-gai / Hornsby Volunteer Referral and Training Service, Hornsby / Ku-ring-gai Lifeline & Community Aid Inc, Ku-ring-gai Neighbour Aid and Social Support Willoughby, were allocated the $62,250 in additional funding.
